Alex Malins has become the third youngster to put pen to paper on a contract with Crawley.

The 18 year old has signed a one year professional deal with the club after impressing for our U18 team, which he has also captained at points.

He has also been training with the first team to aide his development.

Speaking to the Official Site Richie Barker said of the youngster.

‘Like Jonte Smith and Louis John, Alex has a lot of potential and contract is all part of his development. He has a lot to work on as all players of that age do, but he has a tremendous attitude, work ethic and plenty of ability.’

Barker also confirms that Malins will be in the matchday squad for tonight’s game so he can have the experience. Whether he gets pitch time will no doubt depend hugely on how the game goes.

Malins himself said.

‘I’m really buzzing! I have been training with the first team squad for three months and was hoping I might get a contract. I’m really looking forward to working hard and hopefully making a good impression.’
