Chris Atkinson has extended his loan from Crewe whereas Paul Jones is fitting in nicely since his return to Crawley when arriving from Portsmouth at the start of the month.

Atkinson’s loan will now run until 9th March meaning, including today, he’ll have another five-matches to play for the Reds. Mark Yates told the Official Website it was important to extend this loan with players still sidelined with the boss impressed by the midfielder the more he’s been involved.

‘It’s great to have Chris for a further month. I think the more he has played for us the better he has been and I thought he was excellent on Saturday against Stevenage. With three players still injured we are a little light on numbers at the moment and Chris will have an important part to play for us over the next few weeks.’

The previous Jones has with Crawley, despite few (if any) players left from his first spell that ended in June 2014 when he signed for Portsmouth after two seasons at the Broadfield Stadium, has helped him settle in again according to captain Sonny Bradley.

Bradley told the Crawley News the 29-year-old has become very much part of the team getting on with everyone, keeping more cleansheets like his first will continue to help and make the ‘keeper liked.

‘We can’t complain. He’s played once and got a clean sheet, hasn’t he? So far so good. He’s obviously been here before. He knows the club, probably better than a lot of us lot do to be honest! He’s got on with all the lads and we have took to him well and if he keeps the ball out the back of the net we won’t have problems.’
