Richie Barker has confirmed that he took a lot of positives from the Millwall game even though we fell to our second defeat in four days.

Despite losing 2-0, the temperature alone will have been invaluable for the players as they continued their fitness work ahead of the new season, and Richie Barker told the Official Site that the highlight for him was how the youngsters stepped up to the plate.

With five players out with knocks, we also lost Jonte Smith half way through the first half with an ankle injury, and it meant Crawley finished the game with seven U21 age players in the side, including several youth team players, so the experience they will have gained could prove invaluable in the months to come.

‘I won’t read too much into the result, which is always the case in friendlies. It’s about working on fitness and trying a few things out and in both thse things it was another good 90 minutes for us.’
