Defeat to Bradford on Tuesday was followed up by another Crawley setback when we lost to League 1 leaders Bristol City late on at Broadfield on Saturday, which as well as we might have played recently means we’re now without a win in three and two-points from safety!

An equaliser, on the hour, looked to see us gain a point but a late goal saw us denied with the Champions elect going away with a two-one win.

McLeod will probably feel that he should have celebrated his winning of the League 1 Player of the Month for February with a goal but he couldn’t hit the target early on in a goalless first half.

The deadlock was broke minutes after the restart when Flint (48), who was a rival of McLeod’s for that award, headed Bristol City into the lead but we didn’t give up and got level on the hour when Ipswich loanee Wordsworth (60) smashed into the roof of the net.

Dean Saunders, as he said after the game, wasn’t happy with either goal that we conceded but when Morgan conceded a corner it was Ayling (84) that got up to head home the winner.

Losing to Bradford in the week was disappointing but Saunders told the BBC that he was ‘gutted’ to get nothing on Saturday as he feels we were ‘probably better’ on this occasion.

‘I’m gutted we’ve come away with nothing, again. That’s two good performances, and that was probably better than Bradford. We’ve switched off at two set plays, the second is a move we went over on the training ground, and I won’t sleep tonight over that.

‘We’ve come a long way, and that was a performance against a team that was 10 points clear. We’ve matched them toe-to-toe and were probably the better team.

‘The players will be gutted because you have jobs on the football pitch that you have to do and we’ve conceded at two set plays. They were two rubbish goals to concede.

‘You can say what you like about performances but we have not got enough points.’

That’s the key thing isn’t is, result – which bring points, and not performances are what we need so we’ll go again….
