Crawley’s bid to avoid relegation back to League 2 ended in failure on Sunday as Coventry not only got the point that they needed to secure their League 1 status they got a win to make sure.

Nothing short of victory would be enough to stave off relegation for us, even that might not have been enough to keep us up, and for a while on Sunday it looked like we would do this at Broadfield but a Coventry fightback saw them win two-one in the end and condemn us to relegation….

A first half looked destined to end scoreless until a Tomlin foul on Tudgay gave Coventry a penalty, and the chance to take the lead. Proschwitz stepped up but was denied from the penalty spot when Jensen saved his poor effort.

The win that we needed moved closer when we made a great start to the second half as Pogba (49) headed home Tomlin’s cross to give us that all-important lead.

Coventry drew level through Tudgay (73) though when he headed home a O’Brien cross to make it one-one

A draw wasn’t enough but Coventry made absolutely sure that we wouldn’t be getting back into the game when Maddison (90+1) scored the winner in injury-time.
