There are somewhat conflicting reports today surrounding our apparent interest in Dover Athletic goalkeeper Mitch Walker.

The stopper has been training with us for the last few seasons and reports came out earlier today that he wasn’t ruling out a move to Broadfield following suggestions that we were willing to put in an offer for him.

The keeper has had two good years with Dover, specifically last season where they had the best defensive away record in the Conference South, and the keeper confirmed to Crawley News that some talks had taken place over a potential deal.

‘There has been interest. I won’t lie. It’s all up in the air at the moment though, nothing has been decided and I’m still under contract at Dover as well. I haven’t said to Dover that I’m going and I haven’t said to Crawley I will be joining either.’

Should the keeper join us he would be back up to experienced veteran Brian Jensen, but he ended the interview by confirming that he would be attending Dover’s training camp for pre season training next Wednesday as planned.

Dover themselves have released a short statement about the 22 year old saying.

‘Mitch is under contract. Even if they are interested, they won’t want to pay the sort of money for a second keeper that we’d need to consider releasing him. We’ve had no approach from any club in relation to Mitch.’

Sounds like everything is very tentative at best at the minute.
