Young striker Shamir Fenelon has headed to Whitehawk for a loan spell to get some more regular first team action under his belt.

The 19 year old linked up with the National League South side on Saturday and moved to them in time to make his debut in their two all draw against Ebbsfleet.

Speaking to the Official Site following the scoreless draw at the weekend with Wycombe Wanderers manager Mark Yates explained.

‘We don’t have a reserve team and Shamir is not getting any game time just sitting on the bench. I just want him to go and play some football at a good level that will benefit him. We will assess things in a month’s time and see where we are. If he is scoring goals and has got his appetite back that I am hearing about it will stand him in good stead rather than sitting on the bench for four weeks.’

Having joined us this summer on a free transfer from Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion, Fenelon did make his debut in the game against Peterborough in the Capital One Cup but he’s yet to figure for us in League Two action, so as the gaffer says getting games under his belt and coming back confident is best for all.
