On Wednesday we confirmed the arrival of former Man United striker John Cofie (Click Here), today we’ve brought in another free agent with former Charlton defender Kelly Youga’s arrival confirmed on the Official Website.

Like Cofie the deal that Youga has signed runs until the end of the season.

Dean Saunders, who has been casting his eye over him in training recently, was impressed enough into offering this short-term deal to the 29-year-old who he sees as a good experienced option to act as cover.

‘Kelly has been with us for a week or so and done well.

‘He can cover left-back if anything happens to Ryan Dickson or Sonny Bradley.’

I do remember Youga from his Charlton days, where he played between 2005-2011, but I seem to recall that he had some issues with injuries? Since leaving Charlton he had short and unsuccessful spells with Yeovil, Ipswich and most recently in England AFC Wimbledon.

Youga, a free agent since leaving Chinese outfit Qingdao Hainiu, in many ways comes is with us having ‘nothing to lose’ really? If he impresses, and stays fit, he’ll be a good addition to the squad and might get something next season – if not we simply release him at the end of the season and bid him well!
