Crawley had to be content with a point at Gillingham on Saturday afternoon when we allowed a lead to slip.

A 1-1 draw at Priestfield isn’t a result we would have been unhappy with going into the game but anytime you lead you’re disappointed not to win so not seeing out our lead until half time, which we couldn’t quite manage, made the difference.

Gwion Edwards (29) was on hand just before the half hour mark to convert his third of the season to give us the lead, which was almost doubled soon after but Matt Harrold’s effort came back off the post.

Leon Legge (44) brought Gillingham level a minute before the break as his powerful made it one-one at the break.

Legge went close again for the host with the bar denying Bradley Dack from range as Gillingham threatened to come from behind to win.

Dean Leacock got in an important block to again thwart Legge, while Gillingham ‘keeper Stuart Nelson saved from both Joe Walsh and Josh Simpson.

Jimmy Smith had a late effort to gave us a first away win since the opening day, as we had to be content with a one-one draw.
