Crawley provided the perfect response to a five-nil thrashing by Doncaster by dishing out a trashing of their own to Barnsley, who sacked manager Danny Wilson in midweek following a defeat against Fleetwood.

A hat-trick from top goalscorer McLeod helped contribute to a five-one win at Broadfield against Barnsley at Broadfield as caretaker duo Mark Burton and Paul Heckingbottom endured a start they will gladly wish to forget….

Barnsley started well looking more likely to as Price the busier of the two goalkeepers, with a header from Holgate helped onto the crossbar.

McLeod and Pogba threatened, the latter denied by Barnsley ‘keeper Ross Turnbull before the breakthrough came in injury-time when McLeod (45+2) lobbed Turnbull having been put in by strike partner Pogba’s knock-on.

Bradley (48), early in the second half followed up after Turnbull couldn’t hold a Fowler freekick to make it two with breathing space coming our way on the hour when Elliott (59) headed home another Fowler freekick.

Hemmings (65) came off the bench to give Barnsley hope but this was soon dashed when McLeod (73) headed home his second and our fourth with McLeod’s (83) hat-trick complete in the final minutes when he finished after a Young run.
