Crawley’s League 2 season continued with a defeat against Northampton at the Broadfield Stadium on Tuesday.

A chance to close in on the play-off places was missed by Crawley who were beaten by in-form Northampton, who were in control with less than half the first half played. A second minute goal, after Richards’ penalty was saved but followed up by Byrom had the visitors ahead with O’Toole adding the second.

Moloney saw red for the Cobblers with Walton pulling one back from the penalty spot for Crawley but it wasn’t enough with the Reds beaten two-one.

The other results this midweek were as follows:-

Tuesday 24th November 2015
Accrington P-P Hartlepool
Wimbledon 0-1 Dag & Red
Bristol Rovers 1-2 Stevenage
Crawley 1-2 Northampton
Luton 3-4 Carlisle
Mansfield 0-2 Exeter
Morecambe 2-4 Cambridge
Notts County 4-2 Barnet
Oxford Utd 1-1 Newport
Plymouth 1-1 Leyton Orient
Portsmouth 6-0 York
Yeovil 0-1 Wycombe

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Dagenham and Stevenage?

Honourable mentions have to be given to Carlisle who edged out Luton in a ‘seven-goal’ thriller and Portsmouth who thrashed York six-nil!

Wimbledon would have been expected, by many, to beat a struggling Dagenham side at Kingsmeadow but the Dons couldn’t make the breakthrough but as the Daggers did they left with a very important three-points after a one-nil win.

Stevenage, albeit ‘relatively clear’ of trouble, also picked up a big three-points against a Bristol Rovers side looking to secure back-to-back promotions via the play-offs, having come into League 2 winning the Non-League play-off final last season – they saw their top seven hopes dealt a blow when Boro went away from the Memorial Stadium with a two-one win!
