Crawley Town are represented in the first Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Joe McNerney in Crawley’s one nil victory over Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend at the Broadfield Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why McNerney was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Six season openers since their EFL arrival, and now six wins for Crawley following Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers. It was a hard-earned three points for the side which fielded seven debutants, but McNerney – one of the remaining Reds from 2015/16 – was key, making a vital double block to keep the Chairboys at bay.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to McNerney for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
