Crawley’s League 2 season continued with a win against Newport at Rodney Parade on Tuesday.

A win over Newport ended a run of successive Crawley defeats, and heavy defeats at that. This comfortable three-nil win, which left the Exiles rooted to the foot of the table, moved the Reds out of the bottom two up to 21st.

Two first half efforts from Gwion Edwards (36 & 42), both from distance, had Crawley in control at half time with the Welshman then providing the assist for Matt Harrold (61) to head in the third just past the hour to secure the points.

These were the match highlights.

The other results this midweek were as follows:-

Tue 29th September 2015
Accrington 2-1 Yeovil
Wimbledon 1-1 Northampton
Dag & Red 1-1 Notts County
Hartlepool 0-3 Bristol Rovers
Leyton Orient 1-2 Carlisle
Morecambe 1-3 Luton
Newport 0-3 Crawley
Plymouth 2-1 Barnet
Portsmouth 1-2 Exeter
Stevenage 0-2 Mansfield
Wycombe 1-0 Cambridge
York 1-2 Oxford Utd

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Carlisle, of course Crawley and Exeter.

A defeat followed Carlisle’s return to league action, with a hangover from the League Cup battle with Liverpool, but the Blues definitely recovered with an impressive two-one win at Orient!

Portsmouth lost for a first time in the league, and also lost top spot too, when Exeter beat them two-one at Fratton Park, which also ended the Grecians run of defeats!
