Crawley scored three on Saturday afternoon at Notts County but with the home side managing to score even more at Meadow Lane it was the hosts that secured the points.

Thanks in part to a Garry Thompson hat-trick it was Notts County that ran out 5-3 winners.

Notts County were quickly out of the blocked with Stephen McLaughlin’s pass to Thompson (9) allowing him to open the scoring with this swiftly doubled when Zeli Ismail (18) headed home.

Poor Crawley defending allowed Thompson (37) in again and he took full advantage of this chance to make it three-nil at the break.

John Gregory would have read the riot act at half time and whatever he said had an impact as within five-minutes of the restart Crawley had a goal back when Gwion Edwards (50) fired home from 20-yards.

A counter attack ended with Matt Harrold (55) making it three-two to have us right back in the game and restore hope of a fightback.

Thompson (63) completed his hat-trick with a header to give the two-goal cushion once more with Gary Jones (80) seeing an effort deflect past Brian Jensen (80) to make it five and kill the game for sure.

Marvin Elliott (84) continued his impressive form for Crawley when he headed home to have the last say but it was nothing more than a consolation.
