Right up until the last to start the League 2 season Mark Yates, and this will continue even with the 2015/16 season getting underway, was looking to bring in new players to the Broadfield Stadium.

One that the Official Website confirmed was that of Bryan Van Den Bogaert.

Crawley added Van De Bogaert to the squad ahead of the Oxford game with him doing enough in training and against Reading in pre-season to get a contract, which was confirmed as a short-term deal ahead of that one-one draw at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

An ankle injury against Nuneaton in pre-season could have put this deal at risk but he’s fit and done enough to get this deal with the 23-year-old now challenged to make the left back spot his own and earn a longer-term deal.

Yates said.

‘Bryan did well in both games and showed his commitment by driving five hours just to get here to play against Reading.

‘It’s a position in the team we have been looking at and this is an opportunity for Bryan to impress us still further.’

Most recently, having spent all his career to date in Belgium, he was with Antwerp but clearance for his debut to be made on Saturday didn’t arrive in time.
