Crawley Town’s appeal for Simon Walton’s red card in the game against Accrington Stanley has failed.

The 28 year old was shown a straight red card by referee Andy Haines in the four one defeat following the 23 man melee sparked by Shay McCartan’s late tackle on Jon Ashton that saw two of their players sent off as well.

Their substitute goalkeeper seemed to have his red card rescinded and Crawley were confident Walton’s would be as well, but the club have now confirmed the appeal was rejected by the panel.

A statement on twitter or a tweet for the youngsters, said simply.

‘Simon Walton has lost his appeal against his red card @ASFCofficial and will be banned for our next three games.’

Quite how that tallies with their substitute running on to the pitch and escaping punishment is beyond me.
