Manager John Gregory has rubbished press speculation that he was going to be trying to force through four transfers on deadline day.

Early reports said that sources were saying we would be signing up to four new players today, but whilst admitting he was cautiously looking at the free transfer list, Gregory told the Crawley News that suggestions of four players, let alone one, were ridiculous.

‘It’s utter rubbish. I’m definitely not bringing in four people. There will be no signings today. Out of contract players can be signed at anytime, there’s no window for those players and out of contract players are a possible avenue.’

You would assume so would the loan transfer window which opens next week.

As for Joe Walsh, speaking to the same paper, Gregory said that as of early afternoon, no formal approaches had been made for the player and that was exactly how he hoped it stayed following speculation earlier in the window.

‘I’m going to switch my phone off for the next 12 hours, Joe and Gwion have gone off with the Welsh U21s and I hope to have them both back next week in one piece.’

Let’s hope it stays that way or we could be in for another Gregoryism.
